Small artisan-made sablé biscuits with a generous smattering of raspberry chips.
In 1962 Georges Justier, a baker, decided to set up a biscuit factory in Sablé-sur-Sarthe, on the border with Brittany. This became the ancestor of the Sablésienne.
By building this biscuit factory, he proudly perpetuated the legacy of the bakers from Sablé, who have handed down the historic pure butter recipe from one generation to the next since the 17th Century. The Petit sablé has become emblematic of the town it is named after. The Marquise de Sablé was its ambassador at the French Royal Court in the 17th Century.
